Mana's Photography

Here are some pictures that Mana took of Bella.

Pinocchio

Last Wednesday, my sister-in-law, her sister, my niece, Mana and I all went to the Library Theatre. They were having a puppet show of Pinocchio as part as their summer reading program. The puppet guy made all the characters out of found objects. He was really good. We enjoyed the show. Afterwards, we met my other sis-in-law and nephews at Chick-fil-a.

A temporary pet

I walked out of the house to take the puppy out and I saw a turtle on our porch. Bella did not see it. Of course we had to take pictures of it. Mana wanted to keep it. I told her that she could keep it only until her daddy got home and then we would take it to the creek in the back yard. Mana just loved having it to play with for a while. We let Bella see it, but did not let her near it. She was very interested in it. I was surprised Mana picked it up. It was scared for a little while and then it stuck it's head and legs out and did not seem to care anymore that we were holding it. We all walked down to the creek and Brian put it next to the water.

A lot going on...

Mana has 6 more performances to go of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"! She has really enjoyed being in the production. All the Adult cast (which most are younger then me) are really kind toward the children. They even will go out in the park (next to the theatre) between shows on Saturday and play tag, soccer and football with them. The kids just love being around them. The whole cast is like a family. Even as a stage mom, I have met several other stage moms and dads that I enjoy being around. Several moms and children went out to eat at Mellow Mushroom for supper today.

If you have not been to see the production, it is really worth the $30 ticket.
It is an awesome show!
I have been to three shows already and have plans to go to two more.

Mana broke her glasses yesterday at 5 pm. We did not have time to get them fixed before the show. She had to do the show with no glasses. She did well. We went to get her glasses fixed today. Now they are bothering her when she looks down. We have to go back to get them adjusted correctly. At least they were not that expensive!!

We have been with out air conditioning for four days now. It has been miserable. It is cooler outside then in the house. I have all the fans running and carry around a portable fan with me. I have to put a small fan next to the puppy's crate at night so she will not get to hot. The air conditioning man will be out early in the morning to put the new unit in. Just one more night to burn up!! Our power bill was huge this past month. I am looking forward to cooler air and a smaller power bill!!!!

The puppy has roundworms, ringworms and mange. The kind of mange that is passed from the mommy dog and that is not contagious! The ringworm is contagious, so Mana can not hold her puppy for two whole weeks. She can play with her, but has to wash her hands afterwards very well. It has been one thing after another with this puppy. I am just glad she is so cute!!!! (Except when she is chewing on me!!)

Well, that is what we have been doing lately.

Opening Night!!!

Tonight was opening night for the production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"!! Mana was so excited! She said she was calm on the outside but was extremely excited on the inside. I will say that I am glad that I was not the only mommy that was nervous today. That was one of the topics of conversations between some of the new to be stage moms I was lucky enough to met. We would sit and talk as we were waiting for our kids after rehearsals. I have a feeling we will be getting to know a lot more about each other in the coming years. Mana's call time was 5 pm. I dropped her off at the theatre and headed back home to get ready. Brian came in from work and then when he was ready we were off to the theatre. The show was scheduled to start at 7:30 pm, but they had some technical problems so it started around 8 pm. Brian and I sat on the second row on the right hand side. There really is not a bad seat in the house. I had thought that I had tickets in the middle, on row B. I was a little upset I didn't pay attention to that. In the first act the kids were on the back of the stage and part of the backdrop was blocking my view of Mana. I could see about half of her. From what I saw, she did great. During intermission, I asked if I could have my seats changed for the Saturday show, because there is no way that my sister and nieces were going to drive two hours and not be able to see her clearly in the show. I just have to call them on Friday to get them changed. In the second act, the kids were up front for most of it, so we could see her great! All the actors did a great job. I can't wait to go back and see it again. I told my husband that I wanted to see it more times then two if I could. I just can't help it. I want to see every show, since my kid is in it!! (That will not happen!) It was a wonderful energetic show. I highly recommend going to see it!! Here is a blog that is written from one of the actors.

Just one more day until
Mana is in

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"

Opening Night
This Thursday,
July 16 at 7:30 pm

Virginia Samford Theatre

To order tickets, go to:

Mana has had the best time at rehearsals. She is just loving all of this. Yesterday afternoon was the first day that they practiced at the Virginia Samford Theatre. They went from 3 pm to 11 pm. They are going at the same time today. Mana actually slept late for the first morning since she started rehearsals. She came out of rehearsals with a smile on her face, but you could tell she was worn out. Even though she was tired, she had to read to her puppy before going to bed.

Bella

It has been 12 days since we got Bella. She is a handful and a half. She is cute, playful, stubborn and likes to chew everything. (Especially my blue jeans and my hands!!!) She is doing great with crate training, which is the best!! She has learned to sit. The craziest thing is Mana and I get jealous if she cuddles with the other one. She does not do this a lot. Usually only when she has been napping for a couple of minutes and we can manage to pick her up with out waking her up, and after a bath. She will cry to get out of your lap and then go lay down in the floor. I have always wanted a lap dog. I do not have a lap dog. (At least not on my terms!)

July 4

Mana had a four hour rehearsal today with the whole cast of Joseph. It was in the middle of the day. No 4th of July lunch for us. Later that night we went over to Brian's grandmother's house to celebrate the 4th and Paw Paw's birthday (5th). We had cake, cupcakes and ice cream. Then we went to Paw Paw's church to see the fireworks. On the way home we stopped on the side of the road to see the city fireworks. After we got home, Brian and Mana went to pick out some fireworks. Brian shot them when they got home.

Meet Bella!!

Mana and I picked up Bella this morning around 11 am. Mana was so excited! She is really cute. She played with some toys we put in her carrier and slept most of the way home. When we got home, Mana played with her in the kitchen. Then I had to take Mana to rehearsals. She did not want to leave her. Bella has been good today. She is sleeping now. Mana wants me to bring her to pick her up.

Two out of Three

Today we found out that Mana got in the production of School House Rock, Jr. She auditioned for two productions and the performance group on that Saturday. She made two out of three! I can not believe she will be in two productions. I am so excited about it. The hardest part will be that I can not attend all 15 performances of "Joseph..." and all 3 of "School House Rock, Jr." I will go twice to "Joseph...". Not sure on the other.
